Immigrant communities across the United States deserve access to trustworthy, culturally-informed civic information from outlets that understand their lives, and are supported to do so. The Immigrant News Coalition (INC) was founded in June 2025 by Conecta Arizona, Documented, El Tímpano, Sahan Journal, and Listening Post Collective to help make that possible. By pooling resources and building field knowledge together, INC exists to strengthen the independent newsrooms best positioned to serve these communities.
At its core, INC exists because immigrant communities deserve news institutions that are as resilient, resourceful, and rooted as the communities themselves. Our values reflect the fact that collaboration is at the heart of what we do as newsrooms, and remain central to our work as a coalition. INC is:
Our proximity to the work means INC develops solutions grounded in the actual needs of immigrant serving newsrooms and the communities they serve.
Each member organization serves a distinct community with distinct needs, languages, and strengths. INC helps its members identify and share what works across contexts while making space for each newsroom to adapt and iterate based on what their community requires.
The coalition is focused on ensuring deep peer networks that can sustain and advocate for its members, so that no one has to labor in isolation. We do this by building bridges to the right supports at critical times.
Member organizations run structured pilots testing specific revenue strategies, tailored for their unique audiences. Taught through peer-to-peer sessions, these pilots are core to INC’s “Pilot and Learn” model.

INC is not an editorial collaboration. It's a shared innovation lab for revenue testing and field-building. Through its partner Listening Post Collective, INC maintains rigorous learning and evaluation to share insights with the wider field as it grows.
INC is anchored by independent outlets that have built deep trust with their communities. Each brings a distinct geography, language, and approach to contribute to the shared learning of the coalition.
An independent, non-profit newsroom dedicated to reporting with and for immigrant communities in New York City. Through community-driven journalism, Documented expands access to news and critical information in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Haitian Kreyol.
El Tímpano — Spanish for "eardrum" — informs, engages, and amplifies the voices of the Bay Area's Latino and Mayan immigrants through innovative approaches to local journalism and civic engagement.
A nonprofit digital newsroom dedicated to reporting for immigrants and communities of color in Minnesota — chronicling how these communities are changing and redefining what it means to be a Minnesotan.
An innovative nonprofit news organization committed to the Hispanic, migrant, and border community it serves across the United States and Mexico. Service journalism focused on listening to audiences and offering resources for daily life and community development.
Listening Post Collective identifies early-stage, grassroots information providers, often in communities traditional media misses, and helps them launch and grow sustainable news and information initiatives poised for civic impact. They focus on how sustained, trusted local information makes it more possible for communities to participate in civic life, access services, hold institutions accountable, bridge divides, and build resilience over time.
